Christine was a great instructor. She methodically explained verbal and quant approaches and problem types. She made class engaging and, in particular, was great at getting us into the mindset of the test and providing tips for being strategic test takers.
The course and prep books were overall extremely helpful. I found the quant sections of MGMAT's practice tests to be more difficult and have different types of problems than the actual GMAC exams. That being said, they were probably useful in that they were harder practice than the actual tests themselves. And the analytics that MGMAT provides to track your practice tests and problem sets are extremely useful in mapping your own personal prep strategy.
I took the 9 week virtual Manhattan Prep GMAT Course. I knew that I needed the course to hold me accountable to my studying goals while working long hours at my job. The flexibility of a virtual course was also important to me. Mark was a fantastic instructor – he worked through practice problems by not only teaching us the fundamental techniques, but also discussing how the GMAT might distort similar problems. He made the courses very interactive – we never went more than 30 minutes without doing problem sets or other interactive activities during the sessions. We also spent time in every session talking about educated guessing strategies, which I could not have fully understood out of a book. Perhaps most importantly, he spend time clarifying a GMAT correct answer from our second choice answers. The fundamentals can come through practicing with the materials, but the ability to differentiate a “good” answer from the “right” answer comes a lot easier when you have a strong instructor who can help explain the difference. Highly recommend both Mark and Manhattan Prep!

My score is testament to Chris' phenomenal talent as a tutor. I took his GMAT class in addition to private tutoring. Having a time and quant intensive job, he was quickly able to identify my weaknesses, teach me powerful test taking strategies, and was incredibly patient throughout the 8 months it took me to prepare for the GMAT. Furthermore, after a few tough practice tests, he was constantly thinking of ways to help me achieve my goals even when I was ready to give up. He consistently offered creative solutions and was always responsive. Overall, my score improved 100+ points from my first practice test and I am able to apply to all of my dream schools. I cannot recommend Chris highly enough.

Before working with Chris, I took a GMAT course with Kaplan, and scored a mediocre 650 on the GMAT. I hit a wall and did not know how I was going to increase my score. My friend referred me to a private instructor, Chris, at Manhattan GMAT, and Chris turned out to be my savior.
Chris was easily able to identify my weaknesses (sentence correction, critical reasoning, and some of the challenging math questions). His different studying techniques and ways of approaching problems were something that I hadn't come across as I scoured the internet for GMAT study tips. Specifically, his methodology for approaching SC and CR problems was unparalleled, and Chris was actually able to turn my weaknesses into strengths. Another key differentiator for Chris, he was able to give me vital tips on how to manage my time during the stress filled quant section of the exam.
After spending the time with Chris, I was confident, and I knew that I had been prepared with the best tools to take on the exam. Exceeding my goal on the exam by scoring a 760 (50 Q 41V), I was ecstatic and now knew that my GMAT would be a strength in my MBA application process.
Thank you Chris, you are a legend!

I originally took the Manhattan GMAT 9 week course; very disappointed by that experience. My score did not improve and I was left very frustrated by the experience. However, I came to realize that I need more personal attention, so I gave Manhattan GMAT another chance and signed up for private tutoring. Joe Lucero turned out to be a Godsend, as my score began to steadily improve. Quant was my weak area, and he provided countless tools and strategies that helped bump my score up significantly by the end of our time together. I am so glad I took the time and money to continue at improving my score - the result was an increase from 620 on my first practice test to a 700 on test day. Thanks Manhattan GMAT!
SO many great things to say about Manhattan Prep. First, it's worth noting that I raised my score from 650 to 750 within 30 days after taking the intensive, twice-per-week online class with instructors Reed and Jayson (who are both awesome and hilarious dudes). I don't think that my case should be the expected case, however I also don't think that it is totally unrealistic to target a major boost in your score if you simply stay the path with Manhattan. The first thing we were told is that if you master the subject matter, you can achieve a 650, however to get a 750, you must master the strategies - this couldn't be more true, and this will really only come with practice and diligence. That said, Manhattan delivers a program that focuses on both of these items. I highly highly highly recommend Manhattan Prep for the GMAT.

Fantastic Instructor - Especially helpful for people like me who are not necessarily driven on their own. I had a good handle on the verbal section, but was surprised by how the systematic approach increased my ability to get through the material in a timely fashion. The math tricks were instrumental in getting me through the math section - and with the directed practice, I was able to increase my math score dramatically over the 9 weeks. Further, many of us found the Manhattan practice exams to be a touch harder than the GMAC exam which was a great confidence boost on test day. Also, don't discount the value of taking practice tests in the Manhattan GMAT office which mirrors testing conditions.
I found that self study was the most effective use of my time given limited time to study, so I stopped attending the online classes after a few classes. The only reason I purchased online courses was that my employer sponsored the purchase.
However, there are pros and cons to the classes, the pros being especially relevant if you have ample time and financial resources to spend on maximizing your GMAT score.
Pros:
1. You learn different methods of approaching quant problems from peers. Some of the students in the classrooms occasionally had very creative shortcuts to approaching a quant problem, which I would not have otherwise known to take because they were not the approaches Manhattan GMAT taught.
2. You can ask submit questions and get them answered immediately.
3. You are given a set schedule for class and therefore more incentivized to study.
4. It is a virtual classroom, so you can do the dishes or fold laundry on the side if the concept being explained is already familiar to you.
5. The teachers are actually GMAT rockstars.
Cons:
1. Proficiency levels of students in the same virtual classroom are different, so the teacher may spend a lot of time explaining concepts you already know.
2. You are not actually spending the 2 hours (or however long each session is) practicing the GMAT. If each class is 2 hours, you could have finished more than half an entire practice GMAT in the same amount of time.
3. Most if not all of the concepts/strategies taught in the course are already covered in the Manhattan GMAT prep books.

I used Chris ~2 hours each Sunday for 4 weeks leading up to my second GMAT. I had taken the GMAT once in July after studying for two months and received a lower score than anticipated. I realized that I was nervous and my timing was all off. I met with Chris and explained what I felt I needed (e.g., help with timing, some common frameworks to apply and just general cheerleading). He understood me and my learning style immediately and from the first lesson helped me focus on target areas and study smarter. He helped me figure out my study plan each week and set target dates and scores for CATs. I told him my goal was to break 700 but he felt I could aim higher. Two weeks before retaking the GMAT, I was already breaking 700 on the CATs. He showed me how to improve my timing and just made me feel much more confident in myself and my abilities. I took the GMAT a second time at the end of October and felt so much more confident and in control than I had the first time. Chris had confidence in me and told me that as long I felt well and was well rested I would break 700. I got a 730 and couldn't be happier. I can't recommend Chris enough - even minimal time with him can have a big impact.

After taking a few practice exams and being unhappy with my scores, I decided to sign up for the 9-week in person class with Manhattan GMAT.
This is the best decision I could have made for my MBA goals. I was able to improve my first practice exam scores from the low 500's to a 630 on test day. It had been so long since I'd used a lot of the math concepts that I really struggled to get back into the swing of things.
My instructor, Jonathan Schneider, was absolutely incredible. He was by far the best part of the course. While the study material was all very helpful, Jonathan pushed me in class to work things out on my own with some specific direction. If not for his teaching style, I am positive I would not have done as well as I did.
All of this paid off, as I was accepted to my top choice (Kenan-Flagler @ UNC) this month.
Thank you Manhattan GMAT and more importantly, thank you Jonathan for all you did to ensure that I was successful! If you are considering taking a class, you will absolutely not regret taking it with Manhattan.
