Strengths:
The course keeps you on track, and the materials are very thorough.
Would make the product better:
I would recommend putting a little more effort into editing the text books, I found quite a few typos in the Quant books.
I could not have accomplished my score without the help of Manhattan Prep, and specifically the guidance of Elaine Loh! I found the class extremely helpful to keep me on track, and I found her to be extremely personable, well spoken, and knowledgeable in all subjects of the test.
On my first test I scored below my target. I took it again after the 16 day window and utilized those drill sheets provided by Manhattan prep and focused on things that I felt weak on for the next test and landed myself a 675. I'm super excited about the doors that this score will open!
Strengths:
Being able to interact live and ask pin pointed question is very helpful. The weekly schedule also keeps students on track and motivated, especuillay for someone like me with a demanding full time day job. My class was taught by Jamie Nelson.
Would make the product better:
Consider the group of students in the class, and refine the topics to fit the needs of the specific class.
Jamie Nelson has deep experience in GMAT prep, and it shows in her answers. She cares about the success of her students, and helps them locate the opportunities for improvements. I learned multiple ways to work through a solution from Jamie. I highly recommend learning from Jamie.
I took the GMAT In 2003 and wanted to retake it after 20 years; I had forgotten a lot of content and was also very slow in answering questions.
The course kept me motivated and encouraged me to use my weekends effectively. On the Quant side, I learned that I can solve a question in multiple ways; I had a habit of tackling every question with brute math and not any reasoning. On the verbal side, I found ways to take notes to keep me focused. I have test anxiety, and the course kept me on track to not be deterred by test anxiety.
Jamie is an incredible teacher!
It was clear from the start that she is extremely experienced with exceptional knowledge of the ins-and-outs of the GMAT exam. Her in-depth understanding of every single topic and question type that could come up on the exam equipped us with a whole toolbox of techniques and tactics we could use to approach questions, no matter the difficulty.
She gives really clear explanations and breaks down challenging questions into manageable and simple steps, making the whole process seem a lot less overwhelming. Her teaching style is extremely interactive and engaging, meaning you were actively learning throughout the class and were really taking on board what she was teaching. It was an enjoyable experience being in her classroom and we all looked forward to class each week and learning from her.
Jamie truly cares about her students and goes out of her way to create the best learning environment, often staying behind in her own time to answer questions or go over concepts again. Most importantly, she believes in each and every one of her students and gives them the confidence they need.
Anyone would be lucky to have Jamie as their teacher - Thank you so much Jamie!
Strengths:
Comprehensive material, easy to follow and breaks up the content week by week
Would make the product better:
Course portal could have more guidance for after the 10 week live course to continue studying.
My first practice test I got a 600, and studied over the course of ~6 months and got a 740 on exam day. Manhattan Prep complete course was very helpful, and Jeff helped me outline my post-course study plan. I was able to get 50% extra time due to a learning disability, and he helped me understand how to adjust my timing strategies.
The course is broken up by week with homework assigned for each week. After the 10 week course I had more time until my test so I did not study regularly for the next ~4 months, but studied occasionally with my post-course study plan. It was great to have access to the online portal and books for that time.

Strengths:
- Good mnemonics
- Manageable workload week by week
- Goes by fast, 9 weeks with minimal skips
Came in with a 36-7ish range in Verbal. Had a 44 on practice tests senior year of college but 3 years of emails led to poor grammar habits. Knew I wanted to transform my verbal approach and Jamie was excellent at giving us ways to methodically work through every question type.
Overall Jamie is a very patient instructor who gave good problem solving tricks and methods that were easy to remember on test day. Comes with decades of GMAT-specific teaching experience. She always stayed after class to answer questions which was good, as the 3 hours seemed to fly by every week!
Strengths:
- The instructor (Jamie has given us super clear examples and great at explaining the concepts needed to pass the GMAT)
- The tips (in the Manhattan content & given by the instructors)
- The structure (homework, CAT, etc...)
- The training plan at the end of the course
Would make the product better:
During the course, the instructor had to ask someone else to take over due to an unfortunate emergency. However, the person who replaced Jamie had a different approach, and I felt this session was a bit wasted. Next time such a thing happens, maybe have some handover in case of emergencies to enable smooth and quick transfers.
Overall, the course was great. I got a lot of tips and recommended practices that allowed me to prepare as well as I could to pass the GMAT. During the course, Jamie provided a lot of super useful examples, or "Jamiesms" as she would call them, that helped me a lot to become better at this test. Jamie was super available to help me decrypt my results and see how I could improve after the mock tests, which was very helpful to better target the potential areas of improvement. She also provided corrective measures and recommended practices to direct my efforts. Thank you very much for everything, Jamie!

Jamie’s online prep course provided a great mix of live instruction and practice problems to be the foundation for my GMAT study journey. Jamie is clearly an experienced GMAT instructor and can teach all quant and verbal topics with ease. She also is very good at explaining topics in simple terms and provides a number of effective strategies and frameworks to use to attack every type of question on the GMAT, as well as overall test-taking strategies such as time management and when to guess, both of which are critical to succeed on the GMAT. She is very engaged and patient with all students that come from diverse backgrounds.
I did my Post Course Assessment with Jamie as I was preparing to take the GMAT for the first time, and she created an individualized study plan for me and shared additional resources to target my areas for improvement. This study plan was very helpful to follow between my first and second GMAT test dates, and helped me improve my overall score by 80 points in just over 3 weeks.
I highly recommend taking your GMAT prep course with Jamie!
I absolutely loved taking my 9-week Live Online GMAT course with Jamie. Not only was she a fantastic explainer but she also made the classes very interactive and enjoyable. I genuinely looked forward to them in the midst of a busy work week.
Jamie was able to break down complex concepts into simple steps that were easy to follow. This was particularly beneficial for me in Quant as I come from a psychology background, so I hadn't dealt with numbers for years. There's no other way to put it except that her strategies just made sense - and if they didn't, she made sure to explain again until the entire class got them. She even taught us multiple methods to answer the same question so students could choose those they were most comfortable with.
Jamie also was a great motivator and instilled confidence in me and my peers. I remember I wasn't happy with the results of a couple of my practice tests and she was extremely supportive and empathetic. She even live analyzed one of these tests during class, which was very helpful for both me and my peers. She had such strong faith that each of us would do incredibly well and that confidence rubbed off on us.
Overall, I improved 90 points from a 580 to a 670 and I have just accepted an offer to Said Business School (Oxford University)! I am still in touch with Jamie until today and I will always remember what an incredible experience taking her class was. I highly recommend anyone who wants to improve their GMAT score and have fun while doing so to take her course - you'll thank me later!
Abby sets up a great class environment where we felt comfortable to stop and ask questions and it made the whole process much less painful. She is so patient and encouraging, which is what I needed at this stage of the process and worked based on my positive results on my final GMAT (large improvement from my initial attempts). She also allowed the other students to get to know each other on a more personal level so we were able to keep in touch and continue to study together once the formal class meetings concluded. I highly encourage taking class with her!
Jamie’s online prep course really helped me set a good foundation for my GMAT study journey. You can tell right away that she’s an expert not only on the material, but how to teach it in a way that all students can understand. She’s very patient, but also knows when to ask a student to discuss one-on-one with her after class as to not waste class time for other students. She also very generously stays after every class for at least 15 minutes to help students with any questions. Additionally, she’s very responsive over email.
She taught me a lot of techniques and tips on how to tackle every type of question. Her assurance that letting go of questions was okay and that I didn’t need to nail every question was great advice because it helped me pace myself on practice exams and the actual exam. Her steps for tackling DS questions was also critical because she always emphasized in class that we should pay attention to givens and simply the question / statements before solving. Her tips are pretty creative sometimes. I’ll never forget when she taught us that factors that live upstairs in the house have to have corresponding buddies that live downstairs. Take her course to learn more!
I did my Post Course Assessment with Jamie and as with previous practice exams, she narrowed down my improvement areas into a handful of topics, which made studying post-course much easier and streamlined. I’ve kept in touch with Jamie even after the course because she truly cares about her students and wants to see them succeed not only on the exam, but with their careers.
