Course Manhattan Prep Manhattan GMAT 9-Session In-Person Prep Course
Instructor Andrew Mara
Location Washington, DC USA
Manhattan GMAT Professors are easily approachable and they break down the exam in an easy to understand way. Each week, I was exposed to a number of different approaches to solve problem types. I had an opportunity to really tailor the exam with approaches that worked for me. The professor was adaptable to any approach that fit my skills. I strongly recommend. I saw a 70 point improvement in my score, and I broke 700.
I have tried other test programs before, but Manhattan stands out because of their online content and world class professors. Their exams are the most challenging, but they are accompanied by detailed explanations that really bring lessons home. As far as the professor, he left me feeling that he genuinely cared about my performance. He was more than willing to stay before and after class to answer questions and help out. I'm extremely thankful to Manhattan.
This was a great 9-week online course. The ability to join live online or watch the recording if you had to miss a week was great with studying and working at the same time (especially with a consultant's lifestyle!). Joe and Liz were dynamic and approachable, and really know their stuff. They were always willing to stay on after class and explain things in more detail for those who wanted to go over something.
The course was a great introduction to the content, and the strategies provided both during the course, in the books, and in the post-course assessment were extremely valuable. The wealth of resources available, including the OG archer (with the ability to complete and track homework problems) and the dynamic practice exam reports that showed which areas needed work across practice exams were invaluable. The homework review sessions and recorded explanations for problems were very helpful as well.
Overall, definitely worth the money. Ended up with a 750, far surpassing my expectations, and an increase of over 100pts from my first practice exam.
Prepping for the GMAT is similar to getting into shape. Manhattan is like a personal trainer--they teach you what exercises do do and how to execute them properly, but it's up to you to put the work and actually lift the weight. The content instruction and study plan Manhattan provided, couple with and the time I was able to invest some practicing and error-logging review problems, I improved my score by over 150 points.
Some additional thoughts: The instructors were very responsive to questions both inside and outside of class. The one-on-one post-course assessment (which is included with the class) was very valuable in terms of planning my last few weeks of study before I took the exam.

When I signed up to take the GMAT I enrolled in a Kaplan online course and went through and did all the class sessions and homework. But by test day, I had only improved about 30-40 points. Needless to say, I did not feel nearly prepared enough to take the GMAT. So I pushed my test date back by 4 months and enrolled in a MGMAT course. Luckily, I live fairly close to their Manhattan location.
The course was great. The strategy guides were very instructive and really taught me how to do the problems rather than just tips and shortcuts. It was presented in an easy-to-understand manner and I felt like I was making real progress. The class sessions were also very helpful. They helped to cement what I was learning through my homework, and I learned additional strategies and time management techniques. I feel like the Kaplan course was good for the basics, but the MGMAT course really helped to solidify the concepts and take my problem solving abilities to the next level. The online resources were also pretty useful, especially the practice tests. They seem to be fairly representative of the actual test, and my practice test scores were very close to what I ended up actually scoring.
I would definitely recommend this course for anyone looking to see a huge bump in their score. Even if you can't attend a live class, the full set of books is definitely a score improvement guarantee.

Three years ago I took the Princeton review class and this one is better by 1,000x. They focus on the important elements that can actually improve your score and teach you logic as opposed to memorization. For example, the first time I took the test post-Princeton review I was so worried about memorizing math formulas and idioms that I felt overwhelmed and didn't focus on the right things. With Manhattan GMAT, they teach you the reasoning behind formulas (so you can logically recall as opposed to memorize) and don't get caught up on details (like odd idioms) that could maybe come up on 1 question of the whole test.
Overall, the instructor quality and availability was excellent. Also, the online tools of MGMAT really are differentiating and helpful (aka assessment reports).
I would only recommend MGMAT to people in the future.
Once I had decided to study for the GMAT, I asked my sister to recommend a prep program. She had 4 words for me: "sign up to ManhattanGMAT". I am glad I listened to her.
I purchased the Live Online course. My lessons were highly interactive, and enabled me focus my efforts on key content within Verbal and Quant categories. I found the Sections very helpful, as instructors solved OG questions using a variety of methods. Answers were explained in a clear and digestible format. I especially love the use of the double set matrix to solve Word Problems!
Thank you, ManhattanGMAT!
I went into the program aiming to get above a 700 and had heard from multiple friends that Manhattan GMAT was probably one of the best options given my goal. I really enjoyed how they sent you all of the materials along with a syllabus of 'homework' to do each week. I was very diligent, doing all of the required work as well as the recommended problems, so by the time the online class came around, there wasn't much for me to really learn. With the exception of a few discussions during class, all of the tips and concepts they were explaining I had already figured out during the week. This is not to say that I did not like the class: the syllabus they gave me and having the class to go to forced me to do a lot of the work to figure it out on my own, and if I did have questions they were extremely helpful either in class or via email. If I hadn't included the online course, I do not think I would have done nearly as well. I received a 750.
I have found Manhattan GMAT's Complete Course (the 9 week course) to be one of a few truly fine products in the world. There is plenty of content and additional study material beyond the individual class sessions and homework assignments. If you are willing to commit the time (which is a lot) than there is no other prep program better than ManhattanGMAT. I could not recommend this program any more highly.
I also found that ManhattanGMAT's "Thursdays with Ron" to be particularly useful. I believe that this is a resource that only ManhattanGMAT has.
I scored a 620 on my initial diagnostic and ended up scoring a 720 on my first actual GMAT exam.
My first MGMAT CAT was Q37/V32/580. Five months later my first official GMAT score was Q43/V42/700. After my MGMAT post-test assessment, I made some study adjustments, retook the test a month later and reached Q49/V45/760 - a 180 point improvement. I’m done….
The main reason that I reached 760 was that I studied like my life depended on it. But kudos to MGMAT for their excellent program. The instructors were uniformly sharp and engaged, and MGMAT’s tools gave me the resources I needed to leverage my effort into actual results. OG Archer in particular was an indispensible tool – allowing me to pinpoint strengths, weaknesses and timing flaws. Looking back, I cant imagine studying for the GMAT without MGMAT’s OG Archer.
Throughout, MGMAT seemed as an engaged partner in the process. During both the live online sessions and the consults, it seemed that each instructor took the success of their students as a matter of personal pride. The individual consults I had from two instructors weren’t generalized advice – they were specific to my own weaknesses and how to address them.
My study plan was about 5 months. After getting a wake up call on my initial CAT, I read through the quant basics, all the quant study guides twice and did each problem set twice, 1 month apart. I did almost all of the self study per the syllabus and tried to be engaged for the online sessions.
I didn’t spend much time on verbal because it was my stronger area. Yet my score improved there as well, because I was learning from MGMAT how to take the test.
Once the class I was complete I ratcheted up to a steady diet of 50-100 practice questions per day – either MGMAT or GMAT Club. As additional supplements, I used the Advanced Quant guide, which I purchased. The techniques were interesting, but I used it primarily to gain additional exposure to difficult concepts and for drilling. I also watched numerous additional videos available from MGMAT – I wanted to be completely immersed in the quant so that any problem appeared as if it were something I had done before. Judging from my initial GMAT quant score – which was well below where I was practicing - I think this burnt me out a bit, frankly.
I think that one area of my study that definitely helped was targeted subject-matter drills. Each time I used the OG Archer, I would go to GMATClub and drill on my weak area. Using the search function I could quickly find 5-10 questions that targeted my weakness and grow.
So if there is one area I would suggest additional resources for MGMAT it would be more “drilling” options for particular areas. My practice CATS were in the low-mid 700’s going into the exam, but I think my breakthrough (from 700 to 760) on my second real GMAT was following the advice of my MGMAT post-assessment instructor Emily and eliminating my mistakes on easier questions.
Instead of studying 10 hours per day for my second exam, I took one week off to clear my head, and just did daily 1 hour drills on easy questions until I could run off 20 in a row with no dumb errors. No more advanced quant whatsoever before my retake.
Thinking about the 760 score and how my prep got me there, I think the MGMAT sections and homework moved my score from 560 to the 680-700 range, MGMAT’s advanced quant and additional GMAT Club study (thanks Bunuel!) got me to the point where I had confidence about a 700 level score, and my MGMAT post-assessment session helped me focus on eliminating the dumb mistakes and got me to 760.
So without hesitation I’d recommend MGMAT to anyone prepping for the GMAT. If you use MGMAT as your study partner I think you will be rewarded with an all-around solid program run by terrific people who are engaged in your success.
Good luck to all.

I took the 9-week course a couple of months ago with Keith Blume, who is a fantastic instructor. The class sessions provided helpful, structured exposure to material that I hadn't seen in years, enabling me to then study effectively and efficiently on my own. The most important part of preparing for the GMAT is the effort you put into studying on your own time, and I found that the MGMAT classes were indispensable to my ability to study well for the GMAT.
In addition to the actual class sessions, MGMAT also provides a number of excellent study materials such as strategy guides and online resources. One of the online resources that I found to be especially useful is a platform into which you can enter your timed answers to Official Guide problems to track your progress. The platform then generates statistics that pinpoint the subject areas and question types you need to focus on most in terms of both accuracy and timing.
I'm very satisfied with the experience I had with Manhattan GMAT and I would recommend the course to anyone who's serious about improving his or her GMAT score. Even if you're already scoring well, MGMAT can help you do better - I took the actual GMAT last week and scored a 790 (51Q, 51V).
