NTTF Bangalore, India- very calm, neat place

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

This review is about NTTF, Bangalore, India test center- I had not heard much bout this center but since this center is qite close to my office in E-City, I decided to go there.

Good Part- Very Calm environment (no nearby roads or something to distract during exam), approachable staffs (apparently the lady staff did remember me when I visited for second attempt :O), provide extra work sheet & pen, in side temperature was conductive enough to concentrate on test, drinking water available!

Not so Good part- The test center is on the first floor whereas this fresh room is on the ground floor of the adjacent building. I had to rush and measure the timing of to & fro (before the test- to mimic exam break situation - manageable is all I have to say given 8 min break). Those living beyond Koramangala/Indiaranagar may find this center little far to reach but it's well connected via BMTC buses.

DC Testing Center

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

The testing center is located near Farragut Square in DC, so it was pretty easy to find and also accessible from the Red, Blue, and Orange Lines. So I took the Metro to Farragut West and walked over. The Testing Center is located in an office building so you will need to show your id twice, once at the front desk and again at the actual testing center.

Once I got upstairs I had to take a number, but the staff moved everything along quickly. I was actually able to take the test 5 minutes earlier than my scheduled time. Also, there are other tests than the GMAT being taken, the person sitting next to me was in scrubs because he was taking the boards. The room is small with maybe 12 or so stations, but all of the computers had headphones that muffled everything (they're weren't earplugs, but rather over the ear blot out sound), and pretty much everything, I could hear myself breathe because there wasn't much background noise. The center was mostly quiet, and I would definitely take another test here.

I took a test at this center on Monday. Generally, I thought the test center was nice. However, i could not believe how unattentive the proctor was. Between my quant and verbal section, I raised my hand to take my break (the 8 minutes had started ticking down) and the proctor just didn't react. She was staring at the monitors and did not notice me waiving both arms across the room for over a minute. On facebook maybe? This was not a huge deal, I took my break and still had time to get back to the test.

What was a big deal for me was when I ran out of ink during the verbal section, raised my hand for a new pen and this happened again. I should have been able to power through and not let it affect me, but for the first time ever I didn't finish my verbal section. The proctor's job is to watch the test takers, make sure they don't cheat and bring them new supplies when needed. The fact that I had to wait minutes (in the sceme of a test is a long time) to get a fresh pen was pretty harmful to my overall experience. I did 3 points worse than my average on verbal and my overall score was 30 points lower than my average on my last four practices. Also, when I finished the test, I turned around to leave and the proctor was gone. Obviously didn't matter for me because I was done, but I couldn't imagine what would have happened if one of the other test takers needed something.

I don't know if there is something else the proctors can do on those monitors, but they shouldn't be able to. There should be images of the test takers and that's it. The proctor was clearly looking a different website or something because she did not notice the test taker frantically waiving his arms trying to get her attention.

Ultimately it's on the test taker to manager their stress level during a test. Unforeseen circumstances will arise. But it's really hard for me to accept the lack of attention paid the test takers who are paying $250 for the experience

Not a very good center

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

I took my GMAT here last August. The center is located in an OK facility. Chandigarh is an extremely well planned city, so finding parking and locating the building is not an issue at all. However, the test center itself is a small portion of a larger facility, which does tests for other Pearson/Prometric products and also provides coaching to students. So there was a LOT of movement before i entered the testing room, and that is NOT ideal as it can really distract you. The testing facility itself is very small. About 4 terminals which are OK spaced but if compared to the Delhi center, appear cramped.

The invigilator is OK again. I had heard that she's very pretty and sweet, and I would say that is largely true. However, I am there to take an exam and not gawk at her. The lockers are again cramped and very inconvenient.

The worst experience about this center is that its TOO Cold. I actually started sneezing during the test, and I am highly averse to cold. So I basically didn't feel good during the test and ended up screwing it. I did ask them to lower the temperature, and in fact, I had worn a sweatshirt to take the test even though it was Summers. Still - I got that cold.

The second worst thing about this test center is the washroom. Its the common wash room of sorts, located OUTSIDE the test center and above the main facility - doesn't this violate Pearson's policy? I mean my driver was waiting for me outside, I could have might as well handed him my GMAT notes and taken and read them during the break. I went to the washroom without any supervisor.

The washroom itself is filthy and dysfunctional. So I would recommend you finish all your bowel movements at home.

All in all, a disappointing GMAT experience. Compared to Delhi, a center which has been functioning since 5+ years now, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Parking facility : Test center conveniently located and was easy to find and if you are lost ask for "Jetking" center and everyone around that knows it.

There is more than enough space for the parking at this center.

Invigilator Reviews : Invigilator was polite and even gave me 2 pens to me though I haven't asked for it. You can even change the pens and your rough sheets at the time of break.

Environment : There are only 4 systems to work on so there is not much noise. It was quite. Yes, room was quite cold so asked to switch off the AC before entering the room.

Why would you retake the test here or in another location?
Yes, I took the test here twice!!

Do before test starting -- Please see the washroom before starting the test as it is located above test center and you have to go to another building next to it. So see the wash room before startng the test so as you don't waste the time.

Excellent Test Center

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

I have taken two tests at this center - GMAT in 2008 and the PTE in 2011. Both times, I felt that the staff they have at the center is fantastic. They are very highly trained, speak proper English and are able to handle ambiguity very well.

The center itself is very very clean, and when I visited them to take the PTE, seems some renovation had taken place. They have a very clean washroom and adequate space to walk around. Even though the number of terminals is quite a bit, I didn't find any issues with sound and related disturbances.

It is very conveniently located - Just off the Green Park metro station. The complex in which it is located is easy to find and you may need to look around a bit to figure where the test center actually is.

I am thinking about re taking my GMAT for the final time, and am heavily inclined to test here rather than Chandigarh, which btw was a bad experience (Separate review).

Walkable from Park Street or South Station

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

Easy commute to the test center either from using the T or commuter rail. Easy to find if you're familiar with the area (located on devonshire)

Staff was great, I got there early and they let me right in. Gave me an option to either take a seat next to the door, or wait for another seat (I waited).

Rest rooms were lacking somewhat, there was a single stall bathroom, and I was forced to wait around a minute for it to be free, luckily I had enough time.

I have tested here and in Waltham, if you would rather drive and park, I'd go there. Parking downtown will add extra stress, so I'd suggest taking the T if you're planning on testing at this center

Friendly Staff, Lots of parking

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

If you live in the greater Boston area and would rather drive to and park at a test center instead of using the T, I'd suggest testing here.

Conveniently located right off of 95, inside a large office park, very easy to find. Restrooms located close by. I took my test at 8am on a weekday and traffic wasn't a problem, if your test time is closer to 9, I'd expect some heave commuter traffic.

I would test here again.

This testing center is twice as big as most. They have two big rooms, instead of one like I have seen before. Luckily I was taking a Kaplan practice test, because after one break they took a long time to get me back in, and I was a couple minutes late getting back to the test. When I took the real thing the first time I went here and did not do so well. The snarky guy that handed me my test score said, well you can get into WSU with that score (not a competitive school) and I felt like punching him. Given the size of the testing facility there is a greater possibility that you could have trouble getting back in within the 8 minutes BUT if you come during a time that is not that busy you will be able to get in and out super easy since it is so big.

Parking facility : Used public transport. There's a station right outside the building.
Invigilator Reviews : Overall nice.
Environment : Good
Additional Info : Earplugs were not provided and neither did I ask. Computer and room was comfortable. 1 booklet and 2 pens given. For the Verbal section, I asked for a second booklet and was given one.The restroom is outside the testing facility but inside the building; a walk down the hall way.
Do's & Don't s : I think the Penn plaza center has more choice in test time and date . My center has most tests starting at 8 AM. Pretty crowded and noisy on Sat at the 8 am slot.

Parking facility: N/A (used public transit)
Invigilator Reviews: Very personable and responsive
Environment: Uncomfortably warm and stuffy inside the testing room. Earplugs and headphones are provided. The computers are Dell, but there isn't much space between the case and the desk forcing you to move the keyboard around (annoying on AWA, but otherwise no need for KB)
Additional Info: You are provided with 2 pens and 1 booklet. They will not let you have more than one booklet so remember to swap out at each interval.
