Anyone in A2 thinking of taking the GMAT should take Paul's class

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

Paul is one of the best (if not the best) teacher I have ever had. I am so glad I took his GMAT class! I improved my score by 100 points, and learned a lot in just a few months. He is an extremely engaging instructor - somehow the 3 hour evening classes are fun and not dull. I really liked his tips and pointed feedback; looking back it is crazy to think about how much he taught us under such a short period of time. There are still grammar tricks Paul taught our class that I do on my day-to-day and the reason why I will not forget them is because he made them so easy to understand and gave us tricks to remember them in the exam (and the future). I also really appreciated how much he cares about his students. He is always available via email, and even long after the class is over, he still reaches out to ask about my grad school plans.

I am so glad I took Paul's class - he truly is the best instructor. I have recommended him to a lot of friends in the grade below me and all of us only have great things to say about his teaching style. If anyone in Ann Arbor is thinking about taking the GMAT, I recommend taking Paul's class in a heartbeat!!

The GMAT instructor you want

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

Took Manhattan Prep's 9-session GMAT course with Paul. It was clear from the first session onward that Paul had a very strong understanding of what drives success on the exam. The time Paul spent on discussing test-taking strategies, which I would otherwise not have paid much attention to, felt effectively used. In particular, Paul is great at forcing you to look at problems in multiple, unique ways, a habit that allowed me to solve some questions on test day that I would have otherwise struggled with. Paul and the course were also instrumental in helping me drop the perfectionist mentality and skip questions that were losing battles. I would definitely recommend Paul and Manhattan Prep to anyone looking for an efficient way to raise their score.

GMAT Prep Course Hugely Helpful

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

The Manhattan prep course led by Paul Fisher helped me make a major jump in my score. I learned how to handle the challenges unique to the GMAT test, especially timing. Additionally, the software resources and practice exams complemented what we learned in class so that my knowledge was reinforced. In particular, the Quant section lectures and practice problems really made me feel prepared for the exam. The schedule was not too rigorous while at the same time, it kept me on pace when it came to studying. I would highly recommend taking this course to any future test takers.

Highly recommended instructor

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

Took the GMAT in-person prep course with Paul. He was very engaging throughout the course, and helped clarify a lot of concepts that weren't necessarily fully explained in the book - whether there was a shortcut or new method that was more effective for solving a problem, or just clarifying and giving an example of a concept that was easy to understand. The class felt very welcome asking questions about test content and approaches to specific problems, and Paul always knew best how to answer and clarify so everyone understood. I started the course with a 600 on my first Manhattan Prep CAT, and roughly 4 weeks after the last class I took the test and scored a 750.

Highly recommend this course

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I can't recommend the Manhattan Prep course and my instructor Mike Morgan enough.

My score increased from a 590 to a 720 thanks to Mike's highly effective teaching methods. He not only knows the material & test strategy like the back of his hand, but is also a truly skilled teacher that is able to translate difficult concepts into easily digestible learning material. Mike also genuinely cares about his students and deeply wants them to succeed, which is another component in his effectiveness as a GMAT instructor.

The program itself is designed in a highly targeted yet comprehensive way and absolutely sets students up for success.

Manhattan Live Course Review

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

I decided to enroll in the course after it came highly recommended by a few colleagues. However, I was utterly disappointed by Manhattan Prep's live class for a few reasons.

Firstly, the course is unbelievable expensive (even for an undergrad the course will run you about 1000 dollars). I used a few free online trials from other companies (all of which offered their services for a fraction of the cost of Manhattan Prep) and was much happier with my free trial then I ever was with Manhattan Prep. Also, Manhattan offers no score increase guarantee at all.

The teacher was incredibly smart, but I did not see much use for his being there to be honest. There was not much teaching going on in this course. Most of the material was learned beforehand through Manhattan's Strategy Guides (Overall, those are quite helpful, even to me, and I am a visual learner). Thus, the class conisted of us solving a few problems, and the teacher going through explanations, but Manhattan Prep gives the same explanations through their learning software.

Further, I could tell the teacher did not really want to be there. He did not seem to care about his student's performance, and it was clear this was just another job for him.

Manhattan's learning software (atlas) is actually quite good due to the comprehensive syllabus, and high-quality OG explanations, however, all of this can be had for a fraction of the cost using Manhattan's cheapest offering.

Overall, I might be inclined to recommend some of Manhattan Prep's services, but definitely not the live course. It was a waste of valuable time and money.

Good starting point

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Manhattan was a good starting point that helped focus my GMAT strategy. The classes were good to teach the tips/tricks and high level thought strategy needed to wrap my head around basic quant & verbal but I don't think it was as helpful if you needed basic math & verbal skills teaching.

I actually used the online test diagnostics to hone in on the specific sub topics that I needed help in most and that was very useful to pinpoint my weak areas vs. haphazardly studying. On the more $$$ side but I would take the course again if I had to redo this whole process!

Manhattan Prep GMAT 9-session prep course

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

The Manhattan Prep course was immensely helpful in improving my GMAT score. As someone that had never taken a standardized test prep course, it was very helpful in terms of test taking tips and tricks. I found a lot of value in having so much structure put in place (pre-course work, prep class, homework, recommendations on when to take practice tests). It was also helpful to be able to get personalized coaching based on my performance on practice tests on where I should focus my time in studying. The coach helped me develop a personalized study plan based on when I was planning on taking my actual GMAT.

Elaine at MP

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Elaine was a lifesaver - she made the process enjoyable and manageable. She is very smart and knows the test process in and out but what makes her GREAT is that she can communicate how we as students can apply what she knows in a way that makes sense. Also the Manhattan Prep materials from the books to the webinars were awesome! Helped me get into my dream school! My class was small and that made it really nice to be able to ask questions and engage. I studied on my own for 6 week prior to the class and I do believe that helped me quite a bit so that I could stay on track. The homework is heavy and you need time on your hands to be able to keep up.

Raised my score by 150 points!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I had a great experience with Manhattan Prep! My starting practice GMAT score was 560 and my final official score was 710. A 150 point increase!! I took the class in NYC with Reed Arnold, and I highly recommend taking the course especially with him. Reed made the classes very enjoyable and effective, and he scheduled weekly "study groups" at a nearby coffee shop for students to get extra help from him and other classmates. I went to a couple of the study groups and was able to ask him about specific problems, and get detailed explanations for them. The Manhattan Prep guide books were a great resource, too. I studied about 25-30 hours per week outside of class for about 8 weeks, so you can't expect the course to raise your score without your own self-guided study. Manhattan Prep was the an awesome resource, along with the Wiley guides.
