After having a shocker GMAT score of 620 in my previous attempt I decided to completely change my strategy for my next attempt. I decided to take a prep course that concentrates on concepts and approach so that I am ready to tackle any question on gmat. After a week of going through blogs, attending trial classes and getting feedbacks from those who had recently taken gmat – I zeroed down on e-gmat.
After using e-gmat course – verbal online and Verbal live – I can safely say that e-gmat has taken SC and CR to the next level altogether.
For sentence correction, it doesn’t stop at providing you with grammar rules but also gives you step by step approach for applying them on gmat question. But the anchor of their sentence correction approach is “Meaning”. The analysis of meaning that this course stresses on enables one to tackle questions even if you don’t know all the grammar rules. I am particularly impresses with “modifier” and “parallelism” section of sentence correction. Before gmat, I have confidence that I know how to tackle each and every SC question without cramming all the rules.
I was bit skeptical about pre thinking approach that e-gmat recommends for CR. I could not solve any question in less than 2 min, if I used this approach. But I doggedly used this approach (even on 600 level question) for 15 days. My accuracy zoomed up from day 1 but I was still worried about time. In 10 -15 days of consistent practice, I realized that I could do the entire pre thinking approach – analyzing argument, understanding logic, assumption and out of scope and pre-thinking without scribbling anything. I was amazed that I have gained amazing accuracy without spending more than 90 – 100 sec on each question. It specially comes very handy to handle 700+ questions.

I am taking gmat again on 19th August and would write back to tell you all detailed story of my gmat experience.

Regards,

i have given my GMAT in NOV 2013 without any preparation as i felt that my CAT 2013 scores may not guarantee an IIM call and the ended up with 610 score (Q50,V22). The GMAT result really frustrated me and then i came to know about e-GMAT VLP through one of my friends. I registered on e-gmat.com and gone through some trial concepts and diagnostic tests and gave me a feeling that i could have attempted the GMAT with proper preparation and i also gone through some of recordings about strategy sessions, which strengthened my belief. Finally, i decided to subscribe to e-gmat course and took VLP in the december 2013.During the period NOV&DEC 2013 i completed MGMAT SC and CR bible, which throw some light on how to approach to sc and cr questions.

I decided strongly to have a good gmat score that can land me into one of my dream B-schools and started the preparation without failing the approach mentioned in the VLP study plan. i started with SC and took me some 20 days (2hrs/day) to complete the course. one thing i missed previously while solving the SC questions was "intended meaning" of the given sentence and i am amazed to see improvement in accuracy as i started following the E-Gmat Process.Initially it took me more time to solve the SC questions with process and solving time comes down to normal levels around 1:30 min when the process becomes intutive. Particularly dealing with modifiers becomes a cake-walk after the concept and application files of e-gmat (Hats-off E-Gmat).

coming to CR, the unique approach suggested by e-gmat is pre-thinking-really handsome. At initial stages of my preparation of CR i felt that prethinking hampers my speed but it improves accuracy a lot and one more thing this course suggest is to identify the premise&conclusion for every CR question( an eye opener for me). After the e-gmat process no jumps between question and answer choices and saves a time a lot and improves the confidence to solve next questions.

Reading comprehension is not a big deal when you mastered E-Gmat SC but the only thing is to pace oneself while comprehending the passage keeping time in mind and POE is quite important for higher lever Reading comprehension questions as i personally feel.

Now i am preparing to take mocks and then go for Final battle "THE GMAT" and will share the post GMAT experience when iam done...

When I first started learning through e-gmat trial course I never thought that the topics like Reading Comprehension and IR could be taught.
e-gmat has a very innovative way of explaining concepts and helping you to remember the rules. You can study at your own pace and the pre assessment quiz helps you keep focused when you are going through the concept file. The post assessment quiz helps you remember the rules.

The application files teach you how to apply the rules and discard the wrong answers in one glance.

The pre thinking technique makes you glued to the arguments as you go thourhg the answer options and hence in a hurry you don't mark weakening statement for a strengthen question

If you are going to write GMAT and struggling with your verbal score, trust me this team has the solution to your problem.

E-gmat : Verbal for Non-natives

The catchy tagline attracted me to check out the free trial offered by e-gmat. In all other Verbal courses available in the market, you are forced to re-visit your English grammar book after every concept, just to understand the meaning of terms, used to solve the SC problems. For someone, who has always felt that verbal is not his cup of tea; this was the last resort to improve.

Here, the best part is that you don’t need to re-learn your Grammar basics to do SC problems. The concepts have been explained with such utmost clarity that any novice can easily grasp it.

The USP of this course is the 3-step structured approach followed to solve SC,CR & RC problems. Since, I am an engineer, I have always preferred Maths to English, and I have longed for a logical approach to learn verbal.

In verbal questions, I used to solve SC problems just by intuition where my accuracy used to be at 50%. " One simple funda of E-gmat : Selecting a right answer is not important, but having the right reasons to select the right answer should be given utmost impotance ". Following this ideology surely improved my accuracy level tremendously.

Compared to other courses, the highlights of VLP are as follows:-
a)Attractive audio visual content
b)Clear & concise study plan
c)Good structure:- Pre-quiz, Concept explanation & Post-quiz
d)Concepts neatly segregated based on the levels of difficulty

I am a working professional, who rarely finds time to attend the live sessions held on weekends. The access to recordings of these sessions comes in very handy for learning useful problem solving strategies. In case of any doubts, you could always post your query which gets answered within 2 days ( max ).

The only thing in E-gmat, which was not upto the mark was their user interface. I often felt that it was not user-friendly - from a start screen where there used to be no “ Remember me” option to a very old fashioned navigation screen, where you had to refer FAQ’s posted in blogs to find out where the respective sections were located.

However, now the wait is over. I recently got an opportunity to try platform 2.0. I felt that all my concerns were duly addressed.
The BEST in the business just got BETTER.

This is now truly a course which I would strongly recommend to all my friends.

Thank you E-gmat team for your support so far.

Kudos to the entire team, who has managed to create its own benchmark in the GMAT test preparation industry.

I wanted to write a quick review of the e-GMAT VL course.

I am taking the GMAT on 22-March and will see how it goes. I stumbled upon e-GMAT while browsing on the GMAT Club forum. Being a non-native speaker I knew verbal was my weak area. After reading reviews I decided to go with e-GMAT since its course is marketed for the non-natives.

I did find the SC course extremely useful it made me look at SC from a completely different perspective than what I used earlier. I do not totally follow the methodology preached by e-GMAT on CR but I do find the strategy quite helpful if you can make it a habit to follow the process.

The workshops that e-GMAT conducts are also pretty helpful in simulating the test conditions and seeing how one respond to the pressure of answering the questions when the clock is ticking. It also helps you evaluate where you stand in your preparation for the actual GMAT.

Overall I would recommend the course especially the SC and CR. Not commenting on the RC course because I have not used it much and I think you have to come up with your own strategy that works best for you. There is not one strategy that fits all options in this section.

I took the GMAT on December 2, 2012, and scored 610(44Q, 30V). I realized that if I were going to retake the GMAT, I would need to boost my quant score but would have to work very hard on verbal. During my preparation before taking the GMAT, I was stuck between V28-V30 and didn't know how to improve my verbal score. I did my research online and after reviewing trial files I came to the conclusion that e-GMAT's VLP was the best course available. Contents in VLP have been classified and prepared very meticulously.

SC:
Initially, I didn't get my desired results from e-GMAT's 3-step process on SC questions but persisted for a while and I started to improve my accuracy. After level 2, my accuracy was 70% and after level 3 my accuracy is 85%. This is an amazing improvement for me - a real confidence booster. You can revisit the concepts and quizzes as many times as you want.

CR:
Before coming to e-GMAT, I didn't follow a process to attack a CR question and hence couldn't improve CR much. After e-GMAT's CR course, my accuracy has increased to 70% from 50%. I would like to mention that their Inference and Prethinking sessions are wonderful. Both the sessions help you to align your thinking on the right path for your further CR journey.
Improvement: VLP's CR live sessions are not as elaborate as SC sessions are. E.g. In CR-Inference session, instructors should answer math-based questions more thoroughly as many students don't get how to relate equations/calculations with the stimulus.

RC:
I have attended e-GMAT's RC live sessions and started attempting OG-13 RCs. I can see my accuracy is increasing after every 8-10 passages. If I get inference question incorrect in 4-5 passages, I revisit the concept and session recordings. This approach has helped me to improve my accuracy to 65% from 50%.

If one is diligent and can use e-GMAT's solutions, recordings, forums, and quizzes judiciously, he/she will definitely improve the verbal score to a desired level. I will definitely recommend VLP course to all non-natives.

I have surely gained confidence in verbal and am going to take the GMAT in a month. Wish me luck. :)

I enrolled for the e-GMAT verbal online and live sessions. Prior to joining e-GMAT, I was using MG and honestly the whole concept of prepositional phrases, SV agreement, LDR for pronouns, SV, modifiers among others was all Greek to me, and my approach was to “use my ears to look for a choice that sounded good," skim through the choices, look for similarities, and guess the answer. There was no strategy.
The e-GMAT course taught me a systematic approach for SC and that GMAT is not so much a test of grammar but that of meaning. The finite rule set approach is what made the course very beneficial. I improved my score from 27 to 37 and am now aiming for 40+ for my GMAT, which I will take in a month. But as, “Rome wasn’t built in day," neither is your GMAT score, e-GMAT will provide you with the tool kit, but in the end it’s all about practice.

All the best
Cheers

I started preparing for GMAT almost a year back on my own and rushed to attempt my first test after 2 months of preparation. I scored 620 in my first attempt. My verbal score was very bad. I knew that I was lacking in the verbal concepts. I did some research and found out that e-GMAT will be the right option for me being the non-native speaker.

I signed up for the course and the first thing i downloaded was the Study Plan. That's the best thing you can have. This plan takes you through all the concepts from difficulty of level 1 to level 3. In the e-GMAT SC course, the instructor takes the effort to explain each and every concept in detail. Verbal live sessions are also very good and very flexible.

The e-GMAT team is awesome. Their support over email and forum is prompt and very good.

I am yet to attempt the GMAT again and hoping to score 700+ this time with a good verbal score.

My verbal scores were saturated and I just wasn’t able to move from the 29-31 range. After a lot of research I found e-GMAT and signed up for their Verbal Live Prep course, it was a terrific choice and I’m glad I choose e-GMAT. Their course is laid out in simple terms and the concepts are crystal clear. On hindsight I would say it was like finding an oasis after being stuck in the desert for months!!

The e-GMAT 3 step approach to SC is simple superb, and along with the audio-video files and the Live-Sessions I was able to improve my accuracy and more importantly confidence levels when confronted with an SC question. Their SC & CR courses are amazing -no question about it, But my favorite is RC, after just 1 session with Shraddha, I was able to improve my RC accuracy from 50% to 90%.

e-GMAT played a critical role in moving my verbal score from a 29 to 38, and in the process helping me hit the 700 barrier. I would highly recommend e-GMAT courses for aspirants who are having a difficult time with verbal and are looking to improve their overall scores.

I am thrilled to report that I scored 740 (Q48, V42). I am your average Joe (Jolie) and I believe that, if I can score 700+, then most people can.

At the beginning, the exam seemed to be very difficult. I scored a sore 530 on my first mock – Kaplan free test. The worst part was I scored a mere 23 on verbal. I used to think that with my convent education and a degree in economics, verbal would be my strength but the test told me otherwise. At this time, all I could hope for was to get close to 700. 740 seemed out of question.

Preparation - books and materials
I started off my preparation with the MGMAT books. I read the Number properties, Equations & Inequalities and word translations for quant and the SC, CR & RC books for Verbal. On Verbal, the SC book was quite good but I found the CR and RC books to be average. 2 months into my prep, I was already hitting 630s on the MGMAT exams.

At this time, I decided that I needed a prep course to boost my verbal. After considering Vertias, MGMAT and Kaplan, I decided on e-GMAT’s live course because of its focus on verbal. This course took my preparation to the next level. The SC concepts that I learned through MGMAT were crystal clear after going through this course. Two other things helped me a lot on SC. Firstly the fact that the course is very heavy on application. There are these application files that don’t teach you anything but to apply what you have learned. Secondly, they have this OG solutions video course that is awesome. The downside is that such solutions are only available for SC and not for CR.

The CR course when combined with live sessions is really good too. It helped me weave through the logic of arguments and provided me an approach for most CR questions types. My accuracy just shot up. I would definitely recommend this course if you need help on verbal. This course played a major role in improving my verbal from 30 to 42.
