Mandy Tang Reviews

Company: Admissionado

Mandy started her career in the fashion world at W Magazine, where she was an accessories writer covering the women’s shoe, bag, and jewelry scene.

After sitting front row at fashion shows, Mandy made the move to the online advertising world, where she worked for three years helping clients like The New York Times launch their style website. Mandy currently works at American Express, where she oversees the online personalization strategy for AmericanExpress.com.

As a teen, Mandy grew up all over the world and lived in 15 different houses between the US, Hong Kong and Beijing. Mandy received a BA in Sociology from Brown University, where she discovered her passion for career mentorship as a volunteer at the Brown Career Development Center. In 2010, Ms. Tang earned her MBA from Columbia Business School, with a focus in Marketing and Finance (not to mention the occasional seminar at Columbia’s journalism school). As the only ex-fashionista in her Advanced Corporate Finance class, she’s proud to have rocked out killer discounted cash flows in three inch heels.

Great experience with Admissionado

For anyone thinking about hiring a consultant, I definitely and very strongly recommend Admissionado. Claudia is super helpful and replies promptly to any admin related question you may have. Their initial questionnaire is great because it gets you thinking about alllll the things you've ever achieved (even if you don't think it's relevant) - it's a great way to start brainstorming the essays.

Now coming to Mandy - she is AMAZING! I barely had any clue what I wanted to do after the MBA, but she managed to help me realise my aspirations and develop my story very organically. I think she was the perfect fit for me - she had a wide range of professional experiences, and was able to help me draw parallels.

She was very patient with me, but also knew when to push me when I was taking too long to send across drafts. And every single edit I got back from her had a lot of constructive comments, rather than simple grammar edits (which I have seen a lot of consultants do) - I felt that she was very invested in my journey, and I could not recommend her enough.

I also signed up for the Resume review package - she was great with that too!

They helped me get into my dream school, and for that I will always be grateful!

Going From 1 Waitlist to 4 Admits!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

While I am writing this review is admittedly later than I had hoped, I wanted to make sure I was able to include the full details and final outcomes resulting from my Admissionado experience! I'll begin by saying that I was skeptical, to say the least, about engaging the services of an Admissions Consultant, but after working with Mandy, I can't imagine that my MBA journey would have ended nearly as successful.

For Round One I worked with a group of friends whose companies provided formal support. Thinking I could benefit from their "expertise," please understand the sarcasm, I naively worked exclusively with them for my first two applications. This resulted in being waitlisted at Kellogg and denied without an interview at Sloan. Not the news I wanted.

Determined that I would go to a top business school this fall I re-evaluated my application strategy, reviewed schools for better fit, instead of just high rankings, and bit the metaphorical bullet and invested in an admissions consultant. After carefully reading the reviews of various companies and running my own cost/benefit analysis, I chose to work with Admissionado. Their responsiveness and attention to detail following my inquiry email piqued my interest and foreshadowed the type of relationship I would experience throughout the process.

During my initial consultation call with Mandy, which lasted just one hour, she had pulled out of me a completely different, and much more interesting, angle to my candidate profile. Instead of following a boring "former consultant wanting to transition into industry" story line she encouraged me to highlight passions and volunteer interests as a basis for my motivation to pursue an MBA. Together we completed the applications for four round two schools - Tuck, Haas, LBS, and Darden. Long story short, through countless email exchanges and 6+ revision cycles - per school - I secured interviews at each program, and ultimately admissions to 3, plus removal from the Kellogg waitlist.

Applying to MBA programs has been a whirlwind, 2+ year process that would not have been possible without a strong support network and I'm glad to consider Admissionado as a member of mine.

Pick Admissionado!

With my goal of attending a top-10/M7 school, I knew an admissions consultant was a must (a huge amount of M7 admits work with a consultant in some way). I did consultations with 4-5 firms and Admissionado clearly stood out. Their culture of energy and enthusiasm was unlike any company I encountered and they really won me over with their client first attitude and I felt I could get high quality work at a reasonable price.

I was applying to 6 schools- 4 M7 schools and 2 other top 10s. I planned to use the Jr Deluxe for my top twp M7s and apply that work we did across my other applications. After meeting with 3 different consultants, I settled with Mandy- she had a great and infectious positivity, and her story really resonated with my personal history.

In working with her for 2 essays, lets just say she shredded me to pieces (in a good way). She really helped me connect the dots and each of my essays would come back with tons of reviews and great insights. She was prompt and worked within my timeline.

Long story short, using the work I did with Mandy, I landed interviews at 5 of the 6 schools and was admitted to 3 programs, ultimately attending an M7 program that used the same essay I had worked on with Mandy.

Mandy, Lauren and team were there through the process going above and beyond to provide advice and helpful insights during the months of stress, waitlists, and interviews.

Highly recommend Admissionado!
