Rush job: V35 to V42 in 2 weeks

Despite being a natural strength of mine, I completely tanked the Verbal sections on my first two attempts on the GMAT, getting a V33 and V35. With another attempt scheduled in just 2 weeks, I decided to go for broke and purchase the e-GMAT Verbal package.

I only had two weeks to prepare and was skeptical of starting my prep from scratch. The structured approach to tackling Verbal questions advocated by e-GMAT makes it exceedingly easy to arrive at the correct answer. The systematic division of topics and topic-specific skills, along with on-demand video lessons, helps acquire those skills faster. Scholaranium, e-GMAT's question bank, is endlessly customizable and helps you hone particular skills repeatedly. On the GMAT, repetition is key to mastery, and e-GMAT has based their course around this.

I only used the service for ~15 days but my the approach helped me elevate my score to V42. I'm confident that enrolling into e-GMAT's courses from day one would have pushed my score above 760. The questions are representative of those on the actual test and the techniques advocated help save time and relieve pressure when taking the test. Great stuff; highly recommended!

I prepared for GMAT with E-GMAT verbal online course. From my point of view, Course was useful in terms of learning.

My main focus was to improve upon my SC. I completed the Verbal online SC part and found it useful. Their method of understanding the meaning and then solving the Question helped a lot both in SC and RC. At few points, few of their solutions to the questions on their question pages did not satisfy me at all. Solutions were not properly written (My opinion) Or maybe I couldn't understand them better. They need to work a bit on their responses of queries.

Their RC part is well structured and defined. But mostly it depends on how you like to learn or read, so for me, it was a bit boring. Their segregation of the questions type is good and this helps you at initial phase when you are trying to understand the questions and how to go about it.

CR section is also well though. E-gmat focuses, a bit, heavily on Negation method and it depends on person to person if they like it or not. Personally, I found it a bit more time-consuming but again personal choice. This is where it gets tricky because Critical Reasoning is understanding and different people have different thinking style, I found E-Gmat CR solutions not upto the mark. There were so many uncleared doubt and slow response made it a bit difficult.

So in my opinion.
Scholoranium: Well this is the best tool to understand your preparation level and improvement areas. I highl recommend this.

SC: a big YES !!
CR: learn from E-gmat and develop the solution strategy which you like best. E-gmat will be useful. (AV makes learning easy)
RC: Not sure about this.
Scholoranium: After SC course this is the best part about E-gmat. They have worked hard to make it good and they did.

Btw: I am a non-Native speaker from India who completed his education till 12th (XII) from Hindi medium Govt. school in a small town. I had V28 before E-gmat verbal course and V35 after, so for me it worked and I only study using E-gmat for about 2 months. If I have used it more I could have Improved on My Verbal.

I like E-gmat Course beacuase AV methode made it more fun for me (just like attending English classes at School) :D

Thanks

Hello,

I finally wrapped up my GMAT last week. My verbal score is V36 - 5 points jump from my previous V31. The only thing that was different between these two attempts was my subscription to eGMAT's live classes for Verbal. Its hard to say much what has not been said about this amazing Verbal course, specially the SC section is top notch. I come from a background where I was not fortunate enough to have had any formal training in comprehension, grammar or structure of a sentence, The SC section is so amazingly designed, structured and detailed - one is sure to improve his/her accuracy and timing if follows the 3 step eGMAT process diligently. To top it all, you get to analyze your performance, pin point your weaknesses, and target them on Scholarinium. This platform is enough to get you to speed once you are comfortable with 3 step process learned from various modules of the course. In conclusion, the Verbal course of eGMAT is worth every penny you will spend in this rather long and exhausting MBA admission process.

I had already given my GMAT once already. However, I knew that there is still a lot to improve and especially I could improve my verbal score a lot. So I again started going through the verbal scholaranium and I resolved the solved questions again.
This time I changed my approach towards each question and focused on every aspect of a choice. I started pointing out a lot of problems with every choice. Next step was to give a lot of tests, which I had missed doing in my first attempt. I gave one sectional test every alternate day and full test every 4th day. Things took time to improve. Initially I was not improving and my approach was same as the last one. So Finally with practice and time, I started improving. My scores started increasing and I reached the verbal score of 38 in mocks.
None of this could have been possible without the brilliantly designed course - e-gmat Verbal Online Prep. I would recommend this course to every non-native speaker. You cannot get a better service at this price.

I was looking for a verbal course online, one of my friend suggested me about the e-gmat verbal online course, I quickly enrolled for the course.
It is an extremely user friendly and an interactive course, which removes the general monotony of studying from a text book.
It was the first time when I had to learn the grammar rules, and being a non-native speaker, I always trusted my ear for correct grammar. I got to know the step by step approach of how to handle SC, which was the most difficult section for me in the GMAT, I was scoring the minimal and with a very low accuracy, after learning the concepts and applying the POE approach my accuracy started to increase in this section.
The approach to handle the tough RC passages is also explained, and after diligently applying the approaches my accuracy almost increased to 90%, infact in my GMAT retake I got 100% accuracy in the inferred area sub-section of RC (I saw in my ESR).
The pre-thinking approach to handle SC questions is also another amazing aspect of the course.
The questions on the scholaranium are very realistic and the closest to what you could get on the GMAT.

Before coming across the E-GMAT Methods such as the Meaning Based Approach in SC, Falsification Technique in CR and Reading Strategies in RC : the entire Verbal Section of the GMAT was much dreaded.

There was always a guess work involved and ultimately one had a very tuff time eliminating very close answer choices.

While selecting an answer choice, there was no element of surety and the confidence level would take a huge plunge .

Techniques such as understanding the meaning before approaching the SC Question, coming up with a pre-though Falsification scenario and Reading Strategies makes life so much more easier.

This brings a method to all the madness, improves the time, provides a logical template to carry out your thinking, and boosts confidence big time.

Concepts taught are very easy to understand. The application/practice quizzes right after the Concept files cements the learning in your mind.

Immense practice is available through Scholaranium platform to take your preparation levels to a new dimension.

Any one willing to put in the effort for a good score in Verbal Section of the GMAT Exam, the one course that you would need is the E-GMAT's Verbal Online Course. Look no further. Be rest assured.

eGMAT help with verbal online course review

Hi,
Thank you e-Gmat for all the help provided in my preparation for GMAT. I achieved a score improvement of 140. This was possible because of the customized strategy and study plan provide by e-Gmat team.
Although I had enrolled for GMAT class coaching (from a different company) and completed the entire Official Guide 2018 before. In my first attempt I got a very low score and was disappointed at it. I had given up on taking GMAT again. But after few days I went through a post in GMATClub; a student had faced similar situation and the reply from Rajat of e-Gmat was promising. I immediately wrote a message to Rajat with my ESR attached and after few days I received a complete personalized strategy and study plan with analysis of my current score. The study plan also included my strong and weak areas, the split scores I should target according to my ESR.
I decided to retake GMAT in November, with only 2 months of time, e-Gmat team suggested me the Verbal Online course and introduced their “Learn-Refine” strategy. After going through the content of e-Gmat Verbal course I can definitely vouch that e-Gmat course covers all minute details necessary to ace GMAT. My favorite element of the course was Master Comprehension and Pause Points. This helped me a lot in understanding complex sentences which is very much essential for SC, CR and RC.
Along with the e-Gmat verbal course they also include GMATclub tests. This helped me prepare for quant. So my entire GMAT preparation was covered. Without any doubt this is the best course available online and Kudos to the e-Gmat team for all the help provided.

Verbal online - The perfect fit for my requirements

I feel lucky to have chosen this product without much thought. It's not wise to subscribe to GMAT courses without thinking, but somehow it worked out for me.
Let me start with a little bit about me so that you understand why 'Verbal Online' worked for me, and you can analyse whether it would suit you. I'm a typical Indian engineering degree holder who is good with quant but who hasn't paid much attention to verbal.. ever. Obviously, English isn't my native language either.
In my cold GMAT mock test before I started my prep, I scored V27. Towards the end of my prep, I was reliably scoring between V40 and V42. And in my GMAT exam I scored a V40.
Credit where credit is due because I did not use any other prep material except e-GMAT verbal online, OG complete guide, and OG Verbal review. You can't learn much from the OG's because of the way it is built. The book's primary aim is not to teach you concepts. But you can use OG books and OG question to check how good you are. It's a reality check.
So about the e-GMAT course and how I used it:
I did my CR prep first and then did SC. I didn't prep for RC (A gamble I had to take). The learning modules are beautifully separated. You get to learn the basics first and learn them thoroughly.
In CR, from my memory, these are the starting modules: Introduction (Premise and Conclusion), Inference, Assumptions. And then it moves on to Evaluate, Strengthen, Weaken and so on. It is repeatedly mentioned in the video lessons to focus keenly on those starting modules and that advice could not be more right. You cannot progress much if your foundation is weak. In my opinion, their CR material is top notch. I cannot imagine any other way you can learn to tackle CR problems. I loved the simple methods that were taught such as the ABC test and a method to derive the assumption from the falsification scenario. Those methods are fool-proof and just what I needed. After doing the video lessons, I practiced a lot in Scholaranium (a question bank application where you can create your own tests and analyse your performance). I never focussed on timing before. My aim was to extract maximum juice from each question. Once you learn the concepts thoroughly, you can reduce the time you take to answer questions towards the end easily. The perfect CR package for me - Lot of video lessons and a question bank application with high quality questions and detailed solutions.
Coming to SC prep.. I am NOT good with grammar and its jargons. That is not the route I can take and come out successfully had I chosen that. I borrowed some Manhattan Prep book for SC sometime way back in the past from a friend of mine and tried skimming through it. I would doze off in 30 minutes guaranteed and it only made me feel inferior and scared of Verbal. I’m not saying that’s a bad route to take, but I can tell for sure that that route is not for me. In e-GMAT the approach to learning SC was logical and meaning based primarily. Of course you cannot do without knowing the basic rules in grammar. The jargons used were minimal and only when necessary, and the engaging video lessons helped. While learning SC it felt more like solving puzzles than like being tested in grammar. They don’t use the phrase ‘wordy and awkward’ willy-nilly. There are always more concrete reasons to reject answer choices. To be able to feel that something is ‘wordy and awkward’, you need a trained gut instinct. I didn’t have that and there’s nothing you can learn when an option you thought was right, is dismissed in the detailed solution because its ‘wordy and awkward’. You can’t learn anything from that. That is the case in many of the online forums, and fortunately it wasn’t like that in the e-GMAT material. Overall, SC too is modularized well. Scholaranium SC rocks too.
The only negative of this product I can think of is – its organization of forums – The place where you ask doubts if you have any. They are at the bottom of every video/question, but the forum questions are not tagged to the options they are concerned with. I browsed almost all the forum questions while learning (I don’t recommend this to others - to burden yourself with the confusion of others :P. Sometimes the question stated might not be clear and it’ll lead you in many tangents), so this was an inconvenience for me. The turnaround time for the answer was on an average 2-4 days. This might sound high, but frankly I wasn’t bothered by this too much. I would make a note of this question in a book and proceed further. In some cases, I myself would come up with the answer to my question before it was answered, or when I look at the answer posted by one of the e-GMAT tutors 2-4 days later, I’d be looking at it with a fresh perspective and would be able to come out of my confusion more easily.
Overall, try to extract maximum juice from every video, and every question. Read the detailed solution of every question, attempted right or wrong, thoroughly. You must be able to understand and agree with every point stated. And if you do so, I think your verbal score is bound to improve. Whatever material you choose you got to be able to trust it and follow the process suggested by it with confidence. I was able to trust the methods taught in this product and it turned out well. By adjusting my outlook as suggested in the e-GMAT material and improving my basic comprehension by prepping for CR and SC, my RC ability improved on its own and so did my IR ability! No prep done for RC and IR.
The free live webinars on various topics (quant and verbal), verbal workshops, and quant workshops are additional bonuses!
PS: My score improvement is from 560 in a GMATPrep mock test to 740 in the actual GMAT. Not sure whether it was asking for score improvement observed in actual GMAT exams.

I took the e-gmat course on recommendation from a friend. She took it for her gmat preparation and was highly impressed by it. I had earlier given my gmat exam but didn't do so well in it. I initially prepped using manhattan books and other online practice sources.
I mainly took e-gmat course to improve my verbal score. Earlier I knew about the basic techniques but I failed to apply the nuances of it in the exam. I mainly wanted to work on my sentence correction section.
Now talking about the course, I really liked the fact that the examples were really well explained and are designed to make sure that the student understands the very basics, rather than cramping it all up. I really liked scholaranium. It had ample number of questions with elaborate explanations and this was something which made sure my practice didn't go in vain.
Now, there were some down sides to the course also. There were a lot of reading material, if it were explained through video lectures, that would have been better. It would have made it simpler and easier to understand and apply.
