I am having a wonderful learning experience at GWU so far. Career coaches are very helpful and always strive to find career opportunities for students. In the last three months, we had four career fairs at GWU, in which more than 50 companies visited our campus, and many students applied for internships and jobs. In my class almost every student has received a scholarship between 20k to 100k; scholarship has substantially brought down my program cost as I have a decent GMAT score. GWU also has a strong alumni network; alumni frequently visit school and meet us in events, sharing their experiences with us. The program's curriculum is recently revised, and it is very much up to date. Professors of strategy, accounting, data analysis, and decision-making classes (in the first sem) are exceptionally good; they have a lot of industry experience; some of them are from well-known schools such as INSEAD and MIT. The location of GWU is also advantageous; those who want to involve in federal consulting and political campaigning can find a lot of opportunities here. As DC is one of the most powerful and influential cities, many famous personalities, leaders, etc come to participate in events, where you can see or meet them. Compared to other US cities D.C is very neat and clean and the quality of life is better here. I have recently applied for internships and expecting for a positive outcome.
Update:
5 years after graduation: less than 50% of students of Indian origin managed to retain their job by successfully securing h1b or other types of visas. The rest of them returned back to India or migrated to Canada. Because of Trump's policies in 2017, many US companies significantly reduced h1b sponsorships, which affected students who graduated in 2017. As I could not secure a job on the consulting side, I pivoted towards the data science field, and I am doing very well in terms of salary and job satisfaction.
As I am interested in the consulting field, I can share some information about consulting firms that visit GWU. Deloitte federal consulting is one of the major recruiters, but it only recruits US citizens who can easily get security clearance. Booz Allen Hamilton and PwC also come to GWU and they recruit international students as well. Apart from these well-known companies, many startup consulting firms also come to GWU. So overall there are opportunities for everyone; if you want to work for startups there are many options to choose from.
