The first year curriculum is organized in a quarter system (known as Mods at BU). The final 2ish weeks of each Mod culminate in a final project. As a result, there is a limited amount of teaching done in each subject. While this may be fine for courses that most students have taken previously (e.g., statistics), some students leave other courses feeling as if they learned nothing. The value of the end of mod projects are also questionable.
Something that BU emphasizes is the importance of working in teams. That aspect of the program has been positive and I have enjoyed learning more about my fellow students.
