All round experience at Katz

Program Full Time MBA

Class of 2018

Experience during the program

Katz has a great focus on diversity, because the things that you could learn from real experience with your peers cannot be taught in the classroom. With students ranging from Sports personnel to Chartered Accountant, the experience and amount of learning at the school is incredible.
At Katz, Experienced Based Learning is more important than even the core courses, because it helps you find your strengths, work on those strengths, and gives an opportunity to learn and network.
You do get to work on real cases in Consulting Field Projects, and in a few core classes. Also, there are multiple case competitions that you can participate in, which will be the actual issues that the companies are facing, so there's an opportunity to show your skills, and get some visibility.

About professors, classes and curriculum

http://www.business.pitt.edu/katz/faculty/byarea.php
Every professor at school brings a great experience working in the respective industry, and then joined the school to help students achieve their goals. The classroom studies are based on practical rather than theoretical approach. Also, the understanding between professors and students is mature, so the grades are not affected.

Experience during the program

The school is good enough with curriculum, facilities and other required student programs but lacks the charisma of attracting major recruiters on campus. Maybe we are in the middle of a H1-B turmoil, but still the career mgmt. team can buckle and market the school and its students in a better way.

Other than that the faculty is profound and is very helpful. The practical nature of the course makes it very attractive. The Upitt legacy also adds to the prestige of the institution. Just make sure that you learn the art of networking despite ending up in any college across the US (any as in top 50, do not go below that)

Experience during the program

It has been a good experience so far. If you know what you really want to achieve out of the program you would be good fit.

University gives a lots of opportunities to work with alumni and it has a great base of alumni. Students need to be active in their job search process.

Future applicants need to do a really through research of the programs and then make a decision based on what they expect out of school and what school can provide.

Overall it is an acedemically heavy course with a lot of opportunities to learn and grow your network. Utilize the resources and learn as much as you can.
