I am a career central banker from India. I have a work experience of 8+ years and I have been chosen by my employer for partial scholarship to pursue higher studies. Furthermore, I have cleared FRM and CFA (L1) and have a post grad diploma in Machine Learning and AI. Apart from that, I also have 2 research publications in international journals on the topics intersecting payment systems and deep learning. I have also received 'Order of Merit' certificate from my college (a top tier IIT) for my achievements in extra curricular achievements at my college.

Congrats on getting sponsored! Amazing! I feel you should have very good chances as you will bring very valuable input and opportunity to the LBS class with very little risk. Your score is awesome and great WE. How is average age for LBS MFin? Will you fit in?

According to the LBS MFin website, average workex for the program is 6 years.

Perfect. Sponsored candidates get a red carpet treatment in my experience so tell them that this your top and only choice. I would also connect with some students or alums - that will help too.

@NaveenGJ - your profile is strong. With a strong narrative, you have a good shot at LBS. If your sponsorship involves going back to the employer (most likely the case), highlighting what skillsets the MiF would add and how it'd help you perform better would be crucial.

Adding onto bb's point, LBS is particularly keen on asking 'why LBS' and expects you to connect with alum/ students - there's even some essay q's along those lines. You could check out sample essays from a successful admit here. Ofcourse, this is just for reference; authentic/ personal essays are key to have an impact.

Hope this helps.

My sponsorship does involve going back to my employer. Does LBS prefer sponsored candidates? Would it be prudent to apply in Round 3 now or should I try to apply only R1 for 2025 admission cycle?

Sponsored candidates do have an edge, as there's less uncertainty in terms of post-MBA paths. Ofcourse, the holistic profile matters as well.

R1 generally offers higher chances at scholarships. So if I were you, and waiting is an option, applying in R1 is better.

Hi NaveenGJ
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, it's sad to hear that you were dinged from a few of your target schools. I hope you make it to Kellogg and Stern. Were you able to identify what might have gone wrong. It will be important for you to identify any shortcomings in your profile.

Feel free to connect for a detailed discussion.
