I have 3+ years of experience at SEBI, which is the securities market regulator of India. I secured this role by competing with 8000 candidates and placing 6th in the process. At SEBI, I assist in enforcement. Prior to that, I have 1 year of experience in a law firm in M&A and PE.

Outside of work, I have volunteered with a NGO which provides after school programme for children from underserved communities for 1.5 years.
My post MBA goal is to pivot to social impact consulting. I have also done some courses in R and SQL which are commonly used in social science research.

Your reply to another poster seems to suggest that you are also looking at international schools. Is that understanding correct?
School selection is a science and an art combined and maybe looked at in context of multiple aspects of one's profile—scores, past career, and future direction—all need to align well. Add the aspect of portability of your skills to your post-MBA career and evidence to prove the interest and fitment too. Last but definitely not least, your future recruiters should also be known to hire and sponsor H1B for internationals.

Hi Dee, thank you for responding. Yes, I am exploring international schools as well. Mostly targeting B Schools which feed into social impact / impact investment roles.

I sincerely hope you are much beyond exploring schools for R2. Deadlines are barely 40 days away now and every day gone means 2.5% less time for you. Your 317 doesn't give you too many strong choices, I am afraid, unless you are willing to defer to R1 next year and improve your score significantly. Pivot to social impact consulting wouldn't happen based on MBA stamp alone. I would like to believe that you are thinking from the point of view of recruiters also, not just your own. Best wishes.

Thanks for the reality check, Dee. Unfortunately, I am at the exploring stage regarding international schools. Your suggestion regarding apply next year seems tempting. However, I still want to shoot my shots for R2 and R3 this year.

Check on R3—most USA schools do not offer this round to internationals. Re willing to shoot your shots—of course, if you don't try, the answer is a 'no' anyway. Except that applying in R2, getting dinged, and then reapplying in R1 comes with its own set of challenges. Adcoms will ask, 'How different are you now (in R1), given that we dinged you in R2? Do you have higher scores and/or career progressions to show?'
Putting your application with full strength is anyday a preferred choice. I see no reason for you to rush. However, I am very old school and not a Gen Z to understand these aspects.
