Hi everybody,
I am one of the students of e-gmat course enrolled to the verbal live prep program. As is the case generally with all Indian student, I had difficulties in coping up with e-gmat verbal section.
If you really want to score V35+, one thing that you should definitely look at is to enroll to e-gmat SC course. It gives you the confidence by making sure you understand all sections - (SV Agreement, Pronouns, Modifiers, Parallelism, Comparisons, Idioms, Meaning based questions).
Trust me the toughest question types in the SC are from the parallelism and comparisons. These are made absolutely a cake walk by the e-gmat course. Even the meaning based questions are dealt in depth which makes the section a breeze to crack.
You should definitely try the e-gmat SC course. Get the confidence in the overall verbal section and then upgrade. Atleast that is what i did. Follow the study plan diligently and you can answer almost any SC question.
For SC - Understand everything from e-gmat SC course + solve OG questions + solve GMAT prep questions (Buy, if you dont have them) + solve scholaranium.
Download the GMAT prep questions available on GMAT club for past SC questions. search "GMAT prep questions gmatclub" on Google.
Moving on CR section took a bit of time for me to get complete understanding on. A combination of the CR-Bible and e-gmat course for CR would be ideal in my opinion.
You should definitely only and only solve the OG questions for this module. Solving questions from any other module will confuse you a lot. The quality of the official questions cannot be replicated at all. So stick to official questions. Download the GMAT prep questions available on GMAT club for past CR questions.
When understanding each sub-topic in this section, make sure you absolutely understand Assumptions. If you are able to crack assumption questions, you will be able to solve almost any question. Go in the following direction:
Assumptions -> Strengthen -> Weaken -> Inference -> Evaluate -> Paradox -> Bold face.
e-gmat course asks you to follow an approach called "Prethinking". It worked for me some times and did not work sometime. So choose what is right for you. As i mentioned, a combination of e-gmat CR + power score bible is ideal to crack this section.
Now the RC section:
The most ignored section by everybody. This is the section which will make or break your verbal score eventually. Follow the e-gmat RC course diligently. It has explained the different categories of section in depth with sample questions from that question type.
Make sure you understand the explanation given for the answers to the questions in the RC passage. Your mind will get tuned to find out the way to solve RC questions. Again phenomenal in content coverage.
Sometimes, i felt summarizing every paragraph and then getting to a single line summary of the entire RC passage was difficult to follow during the exam. But nevertheless the approach definitely help to a large extent.
My suggestions finally:
e-gmat course is very flexible. enroll for the course as you get the belief that it is helping you improve in answering the question.
e-gmat course has an absolutely easy upgrade process and will always be ready to help you for any doubts.
All the best everybody!
Getting the E-Gmat course was perhaps the best decision of my future MBA career. I scored a GMAT 640 in my first attempt with a Verbal score of 28. I could have increased my verbal score to 30+ on my own but I wanted to have a more clear understanding of the verbal concepts tested on the GMAT. SC was the weakest point for me and I knew that to score well overall, I had to tackle SC.
SC classes were amazing and the video lectures helped me understand the minute grammar concepts really well.
The best thing about this course were the live lectures. Amazing discussions used to happen during the class and we were thoroughly tested on our concepts.
Neeti Mam's class on CR helped me a lot in understanding the concepts tested in GMAT CR section.
I recommend every non-native speaker to try this course once for your GMAT preparation. It will definitely make you a better writer and a better GMAT test-taker.
Hi All,
After my first attempt, which was quite disheartening, I have taken the verbal live prep of E-GMAT. I was actually amazed by their course as the lessons and the user interface were simple and splendid. I was a bit paranoid as I thought that the doubts that occur while studying would not be cleared through an online course properly. But, I might have asked the tutors atleast 20 questions(many silly ones as well). They have cleared these doubts very fast and didnt leave even one question unattended.
My main weak areas were CR and RC. I thought i couldn't get any better in these areas. I was skeptical even while signing up for this course. But now I am very delighted that i did, as hardly any of my questions go wrong.
The PRETHINKING startegy in CR was time taking in the earlier stages. But as Rajat said, there is a transition stage during which one might feel they are going slower than usual. But this strategy is so marvellous!! Also the Markers list in RC, helped me so much to keep up the faster pace and the maximum comprehension.
This course is excellently designed for a non native English speaker. Kudos to Rajat and E-GMAT team! Keep up the good work :)
I was having difficulty in GMAT Verbal until I came across the Verbal live prep program. This is an excellent course and it is very well structured.
The live prep videos help strengthen concepts learnt through the class videos.
The concepts taught in CR provide a thorough structure towards approaching CR questions. The course lays out a detailed strategy for each question type in CR.
Of great emphasis in the CR component is Pre-thinking. The course teaches you how to prethink answers before looking at the answer choices - a vital component of CR.
I highly recommend this course to anyone who is weak in GMAT verbal.
Before eGMAT, I used several prep materials (forums + MGMAT guides), but I got a true help from the eGMAT quant course.
I liked the design and the structure, and all the support materials (email, forum and the learning platform Scholaranium).
It focuses on the concepts that are sufficient to master the topics, and you can clearly quantify your understanding on the section with pre assessment and post assessment tests.
There was a considerable improvement on my preparation. I hope that this review can be helpful to decide your preparation course. I strongly recommend this course for people with ambition of high scores on GMAT.
Egmat’s Quant Live Prep offers a very simple format. They’ve broken down the content in their concept files to such granular level, that you’re actually reminded of your 10th grade maths classroom sessions! But that’s the best part of egmat. It explains the concepts in a lot of detail, rounding up each concept file with a list of key approaches to remember under each topic.
Each topic starts with a diagnostic test to help you assess your existing competency, followed by the concept file. This is immediately followed by a series of practice questions that push you to apply these concepts then and there before you forget and help cement what you’ve just learned.
With each short test, the target score is mentioned, so you know with a particular score where you stand and what more you need to work on. Egmat seems to have thought through the entire course from a student’s perspective, highlighting the common mistakes test-takers make and simplifying the concepts they struggle with. Definitely one of the best Prep courses available for GMAT quant!
I've been trying for some months to find a strategy to prepare for GMAT verbal. My first attempt was to follow the explanations on the official guide, but I wasn't able to define a clear approach to verbal questions.
After reviewing all the online possibilities, I finally decided to go for eGMAT. The materials and the examples of the course are of high quality, and the live classes on the weekends are really useful to better understand concepts and clarify doubts.
If you have troubles on the verbal part and if you are a non native speaker, I recommend to take up the eGMAT Verbal course, you won't be disappointed.
I have signed up for e-GMAT’s Quant live prep, and wanted to share some key differences that I have found. I am a re-taker, and got the same Quant score in my 2 attempts. I found my quant prep to be stagnating, and have found the e-GMAT Quant prep to be much more insightful.
The questions are based purely around concepts. I found that a lot of questions I did from other sources (including OG ones) could be solved by hook or crook even if you did not know the tested concept (by substituting numbers for eg.). This was bad for practice, as during the actual exam, I was going in with a weak concept that I certainly would get wrong if tested on it. e-GMAT Quant prep does not allow me to use this short-cut. This is so important.
Quant Scholaranium is such a neat ‘focused’ tool. The style is great. Explanations of questions are simple to understand. I am learning different ways to ways to solve each questions. Probably the most helpful bit is that it is very clearly bifurcated with tags (topics, difficulty level, PS/DS, etc.). Thus earlier while I had a rough sense that ‘remainders’ is a weak concept, now through Scholaranium I know exactly that even in ‘remainders’, DS XYZ is my weak area. The analytics dashboard is also really good, as it tells me exactly how I have progressed.
I am very happy with the progress I am making (finally) on the Quant portion using e-GMAT’s course/processes, and am now feeling much more confident of raising my Quant score.
Prior starting GMAT preparation, I had a chance to join e-gmat free strategy workshop, which Rajat shared his opinions on how GMAT aspirants should prepare for exam. The session was really useful to me. Later, I decided to enrol for e-gmat verbal live prep.
Once I started verbal preparation, I've found that e-gmat strategy taught for SC and CR is very effective. Initially, it was bit hard to follow but over the time I made a routine to follow the instruction and it became easy. The live session is very useful place to learn from other attendees. It helps you learn, practice questions, and gives you opportunities to practice concepts you just learned. I have found that e-gmat concept files and practice questions tests your understanding and application of those concept. E-gmat strategy teaches you how to eliminate wrong answers in SC. My favourite part was modifier. I did not have clear understanding of modifier prior taking e-gmat verbal live prep.
The course not only has helped in verbal preparation but also to write better English at work. I highly recommend the course who are planning to take GMAT.
Initially, I joined as a guest and I was given access to quant live prep trial to get an insight of the course structure. I am currently preparing for GMAT and have enrolled in e-gmat, Quant live prep course. I thought, I was good at math. But. I was wrong. e-gmat quant live prep opened my eyes. I realised quickly that I had lack of understanding of math fundamental.
Most of the course module checks your ability and tells you if you need to review the concept. Post assessment quiz assess the understanding of the module. e-gmat structured approach, study plan and the clarity with which all the fundamentals are taught is amazing and it has helped me to understand math fundamental a lot.
The live session is one of the best features of the course. You can review the recording if you have missed the live session. I have seen e-gmat updating its course content. Someone from e-gmat team always there to help you out if you have any query.
